I am always interested in many different mediums, techniques and formats. My work
continually overlaps, taking on an eclectic array of visual expression. I mainly focus
on traditional abstract or surreal painting with acrylics and oils, intertwining them
both. Without losing touch with my new media background, many of my paintings
will manifest themselves within kiosk-esque installations with which viewers can
interact.
Originally I had a strong passion exclusively for surrealism. Then in my first series
of new paintings, "Jaded Cabaret", I reflected on my background as a designer. I
began to approach each piece as a problem to be solved, drafting within a grid
layout and being very critical of the color palette. Staying this rigid brought out a
need to express more careless emotion, thus bringing forth many of my free-form
abstract works. Eventually, these two techniques married and became a turning
point as seen in "Another Night". Since then, I've started to simmer up my
surrealistic past, combining both oils and acrylics for specific effects and depth-of-
field which is shown in "Sinner Part 1" and "Thoughts Rendered in a Weekend". My
style is intended for aesthetic beauty in interior spaces, while at the same time
seducing the viewer... having them reflect on its meaning.
