ROBERT BIANCHI RE-ELECTED PRESIDENT OF ITALIAN AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION NJ CHAPTER

Prominent Litigator also Elected Trustee of Order Sons of Italy in America

Robert Bianchi, former Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor and now partner in Bianchi & Bianchi, LLC, has been re-elected president of the New Jersey chapter of the National Italian American Bar Association.

The Bloomfield lawyer, who has offices in Essex, Hudson and Monmouth Counties, was also recently elected as a trustee for New Jersey for the Order Sons of Italy in America.

These positions expand Bianchi's leadership in the Italian American community nationally and across the state. He serves on the New Jersey Ethnic Advisory Council, to which the governor appointed him in 2002, and is Co-Chairman of the Italian American Democratic Committee of New Jersey.

"I am proud to represent one of the largest ethnic groups of attorneys in this State," says Bianchi. "I dedicate much time to these Italian American organizations to ensure that our culture remains intact, and so that our great accomplishments do not get overlooked. This is especially so, as regrettably so many negative and misrepresentative characterizations are made of Italian Americans on a regular basis."

Bianchi is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Certified Criminal Trial Attorney, for which only .01% of the attorneys in the State are qualified. The distinction is given to those who have demonstrated excellence in the practice of criminal law, and who have demonstrated high ethical standards as established by the State Supreme Court. He is rated in the prestigious and independent Martindale- Hubbell lawyer's directory at the highest level attainable for both legal ability and ethics.

In addition to his criminal defense practice, he primarily represents plaintiffs in civil rights cases, including police brutality, false arrest, and malicious prosecution in both federal and state courts. Bianchi has defended police officers accused of criminal matters and civil rights violations, as well. He also practices heavily in employment discrimination matters and in protection of consumer rights.

In addition to his service of the Italian American community, he is a member of the alumni council for Seton Hall Law school, a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Essex County Bar Association and the Monmouth County Bar Association, and an elected trustee of the Hudson County Bar Association. He serves on the criminal practice committee of the Essex and Monmouth County Bar Associations. He is a member of the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey, the American Trial Lawyers Association of New Jersey, and New Jersey Employment Law Association. His partner and father Angelo Bianchi is the former Banking Commissioner for the State of New Jersey, and former National President of Commission for Social Justice, Order Sons of Italy in America.

The National American Italian American Bar Association is a nonprofit, nonpartisan corporation, founded in 1983 to advance the interests of the Italian-American legal community and to improve the administration of justice.

The Order Sons of Italy in America is the largest and longest-established national organization for men and women of Italian heritage in the United States. Founded in 1905, it encourages the study of Italian language and culture in American schools and universities; preserves Italian American traditions, culture, history and heritage; and promotes closer cultural relations between the United States and Italy.

The Italian-American Democratic Committee is dedicated to supporting political candidates that the organization feels will promote the causes of Italian Americans throughout the State.
